Algonquin chiefs score big in first meeting with NCC

A meeting earlier today in Ottawa between 10 Algonquin chiefs has had promising results. Here’s an insider’s view of how events unfolded.
Timing for the next meeting has not been announced, but the chiefs have asked to meet with Ministers from the federal Cabinet, not with the head of the NCC. That’s what nation-to-nation consultations and dialogue mean in 2016.
